President's addresses concluding session of National Seerat-un-Nabi
Islamabad, 25 January 2013: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the need for imbibing the virtues of peace, love, compassion and humility as taught to us by our Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) is as great today as it was at any time before.

He said that Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon him) was sent by Allah to the entire mankind indeed for the entire universe. Therefore, he continued, it is against the spirit of his teachings if any one individual or single school of thought sought to monopolise the Prophet’s (Peace be upon him) teachings.

Addressing the concluding session of National Seerat-un-Nabi Conference here at Aiwan-e-Sadr today on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the President said that our Prophet was given the title of Rahmatulil-Aalamin, the benefactor of the entire universe. He said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) brought the message of peace, love, compassion and humility and preached tolerance and understanding.

He said that entire life of the Holy Prophet was a source of great inspiration and guidance for the Muslims to follow and to succeed in their lives. The President while referring to conquest to Makkah said that the policy of reconciliation which the modern world was following today was manifested some fourteen centuries ago when the Holy Prophet forgave even his worst opponents.

The President said that the need for peace, love and harmony, tolerance and understanding was never as great as today. He said that our Prophet taught us to fight against tyranny, injustice and oppression.

He said that the Muslims that constitute over one billion of the total population are bestowed with every kind of wealth and capabilities. What is needed today is to set aside our mutual issues and difference and to work together following the teachings of the Holy Prophet for confronting the challenges facing us.

According to prepared text of his speech, the President said that against the spirit of the teachings of the Prophet if any one individual or single school of thought sought to monopolise them and attempts to impose upon others any exclusive interpretation of religion. Unfortunately, the President said, this is what the militants and extremists are doing. That is why, he continued, we are fighting the extremists who wish to impose their agenda in the name of religion. “We cannot allow it; we will not allow it’. “Let there be no doubt or mistake about it”, he continued.

On this auspicious occasion when we are commemorating the birthday of our Holy Prophet, let us pray to Allah for guidance to follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him), said the President on the occasion. He said that let us bow our heads in prayers and seek to transform our lives in accordance with his teachings and practice. Let his teachings illumine our path, the President prayed.

He said that on this auspicious day I send my greetings to every one particularly to the Muslims throughout the world and in Pakistan. I also pray, the President said, that Allah give us the wisdom and guide us on the path to dedicate ourselves to the teachings of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). I pray to Allah to rekindle our souls with the light lit by the Hole Prophet (Peace be upon him), he continued.

Earlier the President distributed prizes among renowned authors of various Seerat books.

The President also interacted with the ulemas, writers and other participants who were present on the occasion.
